Quilting for Beginners Class with Johanna Masko Start your quilting journey by learning the cutting and piecing techniques used in quilting, and make your very own Mod Blocks style Quilt! The Mod Blocks quilt is inspired by the simplicity and graphic punch of Mid Century Modern design. In this course you will learn how to cut and construct your own lap-sized quilt, with thorough guidance in all the basics of quilt construction. Cutting technique, consistent seam allowances, and assembling layers to prepare for quilting are a few of the many skill-building highlights to look forward to in this beginner-friendly course. Some sewing experience is strongly recommended for this course. If you're looking to learn to start sewing, check out one of our Sewing Basics for Beginners to get the foundational skills of sewing. Sample measures 48” square. ***This class will run for 4 weeks on Wednesday nights from 6:00pm - 9:00pm *** Class 1: Wednesday March 5th, 2025 Class 2: Wednesday March 12th, 2025 Class 3: Wednesday March 19th, 2025 Class 4: Wednesday March 26th, 2025 4 week course, 3 hours per session (12 instructional hours) You can see more of Johanna's work here: https://www.johannamasko.com/ Material Requirements: Upon registration, students will receive a detailed materials list, including required fabric, notions, and other essentials. The list provides quantities based on your chosen quilt size. Not all materials are needed for the first class, so you can gather them as you go—no need to worry about having everything upfront! Please refer to the emailed list after registering for this class. A sewing machine will be required for this course. By class 3, a walking foot for the machine will be needed. All notions (sewing accessories) can be purchased from the Sewing Machine Sales & Repair Centre with a 15% student discount. Thank you and Happy Sewing!
